Evasion Tactics That are Used by Countries

When a program such as those of nuclear weapons is exposed, there are usually two strategies that are used, and these include dialogue and diplomacy, and economic pressure through sanctions. The dialogues normally involve the permanent members and the country in question. In most instances, there is the use of economic pressure to try and bring an understanding. Before, these sanctions used to focus on individuals who are associated with the regime and the businesses that are involved in obtaining raw materials and nuclear technology. Over the years, sanctions have spread, and they now include large sections of the economy.

Some of the parts of the economy that are affected are the oil industry and banking systems. For a country that produces oil, the sanctions are meant to ban sales of oils, restricting financial transactions, blocking the transfer of technology and freezing accounts of entities and individuals who are connected to a regime that has been sanctioned. Sanctions severely affect economies especially when it is done by enforcement that has a global reach. More importantly, they have forced financial institutions and business initiatives that are outside the country to either carry out business with the sanctioned country or the enforcer of the sanction so read about Mark Dubowitz.

There are various problems that a sanctioned country goes through, and these include a shortage of basic amenities, quick devaluation of the currency, unemployment, inflation and economic hardships that are domestic. Despite the sanctions, a country finds ways to transfer funds, and this is made possible through the opening of various front companies. This minimizes the pressure that is required to enforce the already existing sanctions. With such strategies that are used by sanctioned countries, it shows how ineffective sanctions can be in pressuring countries to make a choice. There is no paper trail that is left when a company opens and then closes within a short period.

When there is no paper trail, it is hard to tell the activities that they were engaged in. Moreover, these such companies do not have a physical location in the open, and they mainly operate from the homes of the managers, and there is scanty information availed to the public. However, a majority of them appear to be involved in industrial obtaining. With financial restrictions on businesses increasing and the banking systems of a country rendered weak by sanctions, a country needs to be creative so that they can transmit and get the money that is necessary to propel their procurement dealings.
